About City View

City View is a television channel for hotel guests, shown in 7,394 rooms at 33 hotels and resorts in the Phoenix area and in 5,187 rooms at 23 hotel and resort properties in Tucson. City View uses digital video players to deliver its signal, and guests watch City View on a dedicated channel on their in-room TV sets. Millions of Arizona visitors have seen the City View program since 1997.

A playback system containing the City View program is connected to the central video wiring at each participating hotel, and the program is played continuously. The program itself consists of messages from area businesses presented in a directory format, making it easy for viewers unfamiliar with the area to discover places to visit.

In a study of in-room television viewing conducted by Hotelevision, a provider of television systems to the lodging industry, the data collected highlights consistently high numbers in terms of guest viewing hours and particularly receptive attitudes with respect to what they watch. Independent electronic meter studies, focus groups and guest interviews all illustrate the value of the hotel guest audience. Summary results of this audience research point out that hotel guests rate television the number 1 in-room amenity, and hotel guests were found to watch 3.6 hours of television per day. This is particularly compelling, as 84% of hotel guests were shown to pay as much or more attention to television in hotels than at home.
